The script
This book explores the history of Hangeul, Korean script, from its principles of creation to its contemporary use. During the research process, I identified a lack of publications on Hangeul available in languages other than Korean.
Rather than presenting Hangeul solely as a national script, this project approaches it as a systematically designed writing system with clearly defined scientific logic and structure. Its documented creation process and known authorship make it a unique subject within typographic history.
The book translates these principles into a visual narrative, aiming to reveal both the structural logic and graphic qualities of Hangeul. As a native user, the designer seeks to present Hangeul not only as a linguistic system but also as a visual language with inherent aesthetic and intellectual value.
